The
White Wolf Prophecy
Mating Book 1
(The White Wolf Prophecy Trilogy)
By: L.K. Kelley
This book is full of twists, turns and surprises that will
keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what could or even should happen
next. The details are thorough, and exceptionally written, and easy to follow
along, so much so that you can visualize where you are at, if you have a great
imagination. The words are there to guide you to the place you will want to
see, and follow along, throughout the pages, along with these mythical
creatures as they mate, and battle, and even lose their lives.
Kaitlan O’Hara was an Editor for Seneca House Publishing,
which was owned by her father, Canaan. Zanack, who killed Kaitlan’s own mother
long ago, is someone no one is truly sure exactly who he is other than someone who
murders females. So he must be sought out and found. Canaan knows this, yet he
still sends his own daughter into the path of danger, before her twenty seventh
birthday, right before she enters into the world of her own supernatural being,
to edit a book of their best-selling author Cordone Valone. And Cordone Valone
lives deep in the Rocky Mountains, in Colorado, in the heart of ‘nowhereland’
according to Kaitlan. Kaitlan resented her father for sending her on this mission,
she despised Valone, and now he was ruining her birthday.
Canaan ends up murdered, and this results in Kaitlan not
having her own family to inform her of her own changing body. Cordone is left
holding the ball, and guides her through, telling her what she needs to know,
and in the long run, feelings seem to grow.
The White Wolf prophecy is known by all, except for
Kaitlan, until now. They are known as the clan of O’Hara, something no one ever told Kaitlan. Now Kaitlan is
learning and taking in everything. She learns of the prophecy, and the scrolls,
which have been missing for thousands of years.
Kaitlan needs and wants to know more, it is her destiny.
She feels with Cordone by her side, maybe there is chance.
To learn what is in store for the Clan of O’Hara you need
to buy a copy of this great book, and learn for yourself, and follow along! It
is a wonderful tale that will keep you wanting more, and you will fall in love
with it, and its writer! It is a definite five star read, worth your time! I
was very pleased with this, and look forward to reading more books by Ms.
Kelley in the future!
My questions for Ms. Kelley:
1. What made you write
this book and how long did it take you?
I have always been a voracious reader, so when the opportunity came along to become a book editor, I took it. After about a year, I realized that maybe I could also write as well. Strangely enough, I've been writing and editing all of my daughter's own writings all her life, and others prior to that as well. And, with my minor in English, it just seemed natural for me. Like every one else, I would say, "I'm going to write a book one day!" I never intended to do it, of course, but truth? Who does? So, I decided to give it a try. Since I love fiction of any kind, I especially love the supernatural, romance, & paranormal genre, it was only natural that I would pick that genre for my own book. Reading books such as Twilight, Karen Moning's “Fever” series, Quinn Loftis' “The Grey Wolves Series”, the Hunger Games, etc., it occurred to me that, except for Moning, I could find very little for adults within the genre. Most were YA. That just wasn't good enough for me, because they were great for teens, but doggone it, I wanted to have the same adventures as well - with a more adult theme! Trying to figure out if any other adult woman had noticed the same things, first, I asked my daughter what she thought. She told me, “It's about time! You can't find many books with an adult theme!” Next, I asked a good friend of mine, who agreed with my daughter. That made two women in their early 30's and late 50's who agreed. That made me even more curious, and I asked how many women out there were “secret” readers of the supernatural, and how old they were. What I discovered was fascinating! Asking women between 18-65, I found that adult women in every age range wanted to have the same adventures that I did, but like me, they wanted a more adult theme. Because of this, I chose an age of 27 for my character, Kaitlyn Seneca O'Hara. After a dream, in July, 2013, I had a dream which resulted in a fully formed story when I awoke the next morning. I immediately began to write after breakfast, and continued to write from morning till night, realizing I had enough for a trilogy! So, I wrote the White Wolf Prophecy ~ Mating ~ book 1 in July, 2013, finishing by the first of August in 2013. I finished the entire trilogy by the end of October, 2013. I chose DRAGONEYE Publishing House, and my first book was released on February 14, 2014 with the last book published on February 14, 2015. (The first date was an accident, but the second one was deliberate). I also attended my very first book-signing. That meant traveling to Glendale, Colorado at the Barnes and Noble all the way from Arkansas. It was very exciting, and many came out to buy them!

2. Do you have any
photos of the characters, or even a description of them?
I do. I was so very excited when I had professional photographers offering their service to take professional photos for my book cover & website! And, I was even more excited when my heroine, hero, and villain volunteered! I had so much fun and support, and I can never thank them enough! I even have many behind the scenes pics on my website, http://firebird4554.wix.com/white-wolf-prophecy for fun. People always love to see these, and think it's glamorous, but I can say that it is totally different than I ever realized!A lot of it is hurry up and wait for hours with makeup, hair, and wardrobe. First, the young lady who was going to be Kaitlyn, had to fly from Denver, Colorado, to Fort Smith, AR. Then, we drove during a blinding rainstorm 2 ½ hours to Little Rock, Arkansas to meet with the young man who was to become my character of Cordone Tristan Valon, and love interest of Kaitlyn. Our outdoor scenes had to be nixed, so we made the best of what we did have. And, they turned out great! I also wanted something a bit different, so my characters did not take off their clothes, or posed in almost nothing. I wanted a true romance book on the outside, with a little bit of WOW inside of it! The full descriptions and full backgrounds of each character are fully covered in the books. It was great fun to makeup the varied backgrounds, and I tried to make them as realistic as possible. There are some tears for one character, as well as laughter and fun with all 4 women in their varied ages. No two characters are alike, and their backgrounds are slowly revealed throughout the books with several surprises along the way!

3. Did you find
yourself getting tongue tied with the names of the characters in the book? And
did you do this on purpose? (Maybe it was just me...)
Well, there were a
couple of minor villains, and it was fun! But, in general,
no. I tried to stay away from it. However, with one
character having several different names that evolve throughout all three
books, it was hard to keep them straight! One character called him one name,
and everyone else calling him a different one was most confusing. And, then,
just to spice it up, I added one more name that he goes by, but you won't find
out who he is until book 2. It's a true surprise, and I gave mythology a true
tweak on this one!
4. What made you come up with this curse and prophecy?
Great question! The plot was in my dream, but I had to actually come up with the poems to describe the prophecy-curse that appear in each book. And, it sounds like a cop out, but I devised the poems when relaxing in the shower! After a few alterations, I had it done much faster than I ever thought I could. I wanted to keep the reader on their toes and wondering who the villain was until the very last second!
5. Did you have to do any special research for this book?
Yes, but actually, I drew from what I had learned and researched over the years. I was a member of the best alternative science magazine in the world, called Atlantis Rising Magazine, which is published by a wonderful man, Doug Kenyon out of Montana. I also have been a member of their forums since 2001, and many real researchers were on it as well. When I joined in the great and varied theories, I felt honored that they would even speak to me, but they were all so nice, and very respectful to my own ideas. Many things such as time travel, mythology, theories of Atlantis, legends, etc., as well as paradoxes, are available, and I put my own twists and spins on these in my books.
6. What do you suggest for anyone wanting to become a writer?
That is truly a tough question. Most all writers approach writing in so many different ways. My biggest suggestion is make sure your book is edited properly. If your book is edited correctly, it makes a large difference, and trust me...readers DO notice bad spelling, language use, and punctuation's. I do 3 edits for my authors, & my own writings. And, even that is not a total guarantee you won't miss something, but by the third edit, it's less problematic. It's not enough for someone to just read it, and find a few things here and there. You need a real editor. I believe that can be the difference between a mediocre book and a best-seller. Another suggestion. Every author has their own way of writing. Some keep outlines. Some write from notes. Others, like me, write in story boarding like they do in TV & movies. I write in my mind, then act each scene out, before I write it down. It helps me keep continuity within the stories. But it's truly subjective for each writer. Find the best way if you are a new writer, and stick with it. I find this way is best for me, and why my books read so much like a movie for theater or TV. It's easy to visualize for me, and my descriptions are very vivid.

7.
So the idea's behind the scroll's, the prophecy, and the curse, this all sounds
so...so mythological and even historical. Was that what you were going for?
Yes, and no. It's more myth and legends than historical. However, I did intend it to read as if it was historical. It was a world that I designed using myth, legend, and time travel thrown in the mix. You have great creative license with myth and legend, and you can get creative with any story.
8. What are you working on now?
My new series is called the "Anaerris Code – Gem”. Again, it has myth, legends, Angels, demons, and I have thrown a lot of creative license in it, which includes another interesting idea that has its basis in reality – terraforming. I have just finished with the first edit, and I have had volunteers offer to read it for me for reviews.
9. What all education have you had?
I graduated with an Associate of Arts degree, 4.0 (this is straight A's in America) with a major in music, specifically voice, & a minor in English. I am also a professional Interior Decorator, cake decorator, and Office Organizer. And, like my books, I use my imagination to make it all work.
10. As descriptive as this book seemed to me, do you also maybe have scenic photos, or descriptions of the places this story took place? My imagination imagined quite a beautiful place, so I'm quite curious.
Absolutely! FAQ – they are real places! In fact, we actually trekked to several different places in Colorado to get them. It has many different vistas, so it was perfect! I had these places in my mind, before I even finished editing the books. In December of 2013, when we had the professional photos taken of my characters, we began our treks. While part of the story takes place in St Louis, Missouri, the majority of the plot is in Colorado. On all 3 covers, the backgrounds are photos that I, personally, took. I had certain scenes in my mind, and the three that I decided upon were perfect! The first book's background is Echo Lake in Colorado, near Mount Evans. Book 2 is Bear Lake in Rocky National Park, Colorado. It not only was the perfect place, but the sky cooperated with us as well! It began as a gorgeous day, but the weather turned on us in an instant! There was still ice and snow on the ground along with Bear Lake that was frozen, and covered over with snow! We took care not to get on the ice – if we could see it, which we couldn't! We had to estimate where it might begin. By the time we were finished with our photoshoot, it was snowing, and that is exactly what I wanted, because it fits with another mystery in book 2. Next, I had a specific place I wanted to use for my last book, and after my second booksigning at Barnes and Noble in Glendale, Colorado, we drove to Glenwood Springs, stayed overnight, then proceeded to Hanging Lake for the long hike, which began at 6 AM. I describe it in the book without telling where it was, because I wanted someone to imagine the place, but not having seen it in real life. I wanted it romantic, and beautiful. Hanging Lake is a magical, incredible, and an amazing place to see! It's called that because it is, quite literally, a “hanging” lake in the middle of nowhere on the side of a mountain! It is so pristine, the general consensus is that it shouldn't even be there! It is protected, and so clear, you can see the finest detail under the water. Yet, it is fed by a huge waterfall above it, which you must hike even futher up to see. It is called Spouting Rock. This is a 1 1/2 mile trek straight up, and is the most beautiful place ever! It's like a place out of J R R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. You expect to see elves and dwarves pop out to meet you! It is truly magical place – almost a mythological place that is real! And, I have these pictures on my website as well. I hope you enjoy looking at them!

12. Anything to add:
Yes. The books are a
progression until the end of the story. I love to keep people guessing who the
real villain is, and the ending is not like any other you will ever read,
Deneale. I can guarantee this for sure. It has surprised everyone who has read
all three books.
I also want to pay
special thanks to the following for all their support and help! After I told my
husband, Wes, and daughter, Laura, what I had done, they were so excited, they
enlisted full support for me. I had “test market” readers for all 3 books, and
these interviews are in all the them. Each one was absolutely thrilled, and
yet, had no idea that I could write! A friend who was in the Educational field
as teacher and assistant to the principal, asked me why I had not done this
before, because she had no idea that I could “write like that”! She and my
author friend, Anita Meye, encouraged me to continue to write.
I want to acknowledge
my wonderful photographers:
Thanks to:

Fun FAQs about the
book:
- I did base my characters after real people with changes, of course
- My good friend, Anita Meyer, allowed me to use her own first name in the book with her permission, who is also a great writer in her own right! http://anitameyer1.wix.com/anita-meyer-books
- A mythological and surprise character appears in book 2
- I designed all my own book covers. These were so much fun!
- The woman on the covers of all three books are, believe it or not, my daughter, and the men on them are her friends
- Neither my daughter or husband knew I was writing a book. It's fun to be able to surprise your family when you are considered predictable, and they realize you aren't! I was writing my last book before Wes asked me what I was doing. I told him I was “writing a book”, and he said, “I figured”, then continued to read the newspaper!
- I have many fans at work as well as followers
- I loved writing for the women between 18-65
- I was surprised to discover that MEN like my books, too! I never expected that one!
I want to thank you,
Deneale, for this opportunity to tell you a bit about my book. I've had a blast
doing the interview! Again, thank you so much!
