Lies in Ink and Whiskey By: Leaona Luxx

Lies in Ink and Whiskey

By: Leaona Luxx

I am a person who likes to look at the cover of a book, before I even start to read it. And I looked at this one. For a few minutes. What can I say? I mean, tasty right. When the guy on the cover looks back at you, that in itself makes you smile and want to open the book. So, yes, I did it.

I met Maisyn in the first chapter. And I fell in love instantly. She just so out there, and I love her attitude, because she is so unique, and not afraid to be someone most of us aren’t. Reading her makes me smile. I try to be like her sometimes, but more often then not. I cave. Maisyn doesn’t.
When you read this book, I am certain if you like a strong woman, this book will just draw you in.

Then when you meet Lachlan, he is another character I am certain you will enjoy. He is just one of those guys who will make you secretly smile. His eyes are mentioned in the title, they’re whiskey colored.

The thing is, is Maisyn feels she is just so over men, that she is swearing them off. Don’t roll your eyes as you read my words! Yeah, I know you, I know what you’re thinking. We’ve all been there before. Maisyn just feels she is always the unlucky one, and if she keeps going, sooner or later, she’ll feel the burn.

But Lachlan he does desire Maisyn, one minute and then not the next. There is just something about Maisyn, and he just doesn’t know what it is. And he also isn’t certain if he should go for it or not.

The on and off again is making Maisyn’s heard and head spin so much that her desires are starting to get the best of her. And every time she looks into those whisky colored eyes, she just wants to melt away, and stay with Lachlan forever.

But there are lies in the midst and they need to come out and both of them know it. Sooner then later. However, the problem is, will they be able to solve this problem that they’re having, or not? I mean do Maisyn and Lachlan even really want to? Or is this just a tease?

This is where you the reader come in and learn for yourself. Because if I go telling all the secrets, then what is the point of reading the book? I will tell you that this book is a five-star read, and it will seduce your dreams, and make you want to keep reading it. I will also tell you that, I enjoy this book very much so, and that it made me keep reading it, because I wanted to know the result. And once you start it, you’ll see exactly what I mean. This book is everything you will want, and more!

Here are my questions for Ms. Luxx:

1. What made you decide to write this book and how long did it take you?

My books are centered around a family and their friends. It was time to write about this set of their friends because they told me so. A few days. lol

2. Do you have any photos or descriptions of the characters?

Lachlan Daly -  36 yr old Scottish business man, raised from here since middle school.
Maisyn Baker -  26 yr old tattoo artist and small business owner.

3. What is your favorite part of this book?

All of it!! I was thrilled to be able to create their world. They’ve been around for two years, it’s exciting getting to know them better.

4. What are you working on now?

Whiskey Rebellion – Book 2 in the Lies & Whiskey Duet

5. Out of all of your books, which one is your favorite and why?

I can’t pick!! That’s like choosing your favorite child. Lol If I were to say anything, I love all of them because they’re based on family and friends but my growth as a writer can be easily seen.

6. What was/is your favorite childhood book of all time?

Little Women or Nancy Drew.

7. What do you like best about being a writer?

Creating worlds.

8. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my family.

9. Have you ever had writers block? If so- what do/ or would you do about it?

No. These people scream at me in my sleep!!

10. What do you yourself like to read?

Everything!! I don’t have a preferred genre.

“Leaona Luxx has created another amazing story with characters that will send you on a wild, emotional ride! Wow, Lachlan and Maisyn are explosive! Their slow slow burn and spark is off the charts hot! I absolutely loved these two! Both flawed from life they fit each other perfectly! Lachlan is such a mystery. There are so many layers to still be discovered I'm almost scared! Maisyn is awesome! She has been through hell and back and still managed to fight hard for the life she has now.” J Kerr Amazon Reviewer

Blurb:

I’m over men. I’m swearing them off.
It’s taken me years to get away from the last one. He left me bruised and battered — in more ways than one.
My dislike is as deep as my distrust.
As I start my own business, I consider myself fortunate. The thing is, I’ve never been the lucky girl. What was supposed to be a one-time job, turns into nothing but trouble.
And that’s something I know a lot about.
Lachlan Daly makes me feel everything I swore I never would. One glance into those whiskey colored eyes and I’m lost. His on again, off again desire for me has my head spinning and my pulse pounding.
The minute I think I have it figured out, I find myself making decisions that we both will regret.
Ink and whiskey have a way of making the truth come out.

The Wisconsin Samurai By: Scott McElhaney

The Wisconsin Samurai

By: Scott McElhaney

I was on Amazon, and this book popped up. Automatically I knew that the title has another meaning, I mean really? Not to mention, I know the Author. Literally.

So, here I am on page one, reading. Thinking the book must’ve loaded wrong, because it seemed to start off in the middle of everything, so I flip backwards, taking me back to the cover. Nope, there I am back to cutting the cheese. Which means, I can continue.

I end up laughing so hard throughout this book that tears came to my eyes. I just couldn’t stop. The neighbors were looking at me on my porch like I had a problem. I mean, I wasn’t on the phone, and here I was alone. The looks I was getting. Yep, she’s lost her mind.

No, this book is so comical that even if you are in bad mood, I promise you, trying to resist laughing: you’ll fail. I in fact promise you, that you will fail.

Allow me to demonstrate: Rip Ricotta is attending High School, where their Mascot is the Bleu Devils. And Rips has a best friend, and his name is Colby. And as you already know, the story takes place in Wisconsin.

There are cheese factories there, I mean of course. We all know that Wisconsin is the cheese capitol is the World, right?

Well, there is this one guy who is dating the hottest girl at the high school, and her name is Brie. The guy dating her is Jack Monterey. They get into a squabble at the football game, and this is the first incident where Rip realizes her has a talent, if you will.

Rip didn’t like the fact that Jack had the audacity to push Brie and knock her down. As she was getting back to her feet, Rip could tell, that Jack was going to attempt to hit her. That’s when it happened. The slow-motion action to save the girl, and the day kicked into action. And the thoughts of ‘What was I thinking?’ At the same time.

Well low and behold there were nachos and cheese involved. Luckily for those involved though, they were the round nachos. Otherwise, I think there could’ve been more damage then what happened. This is where the Samurai actions proved to impact the cheese and proved to cause various explosions in cutting the cheese.

Then compliments of this factor, we end up learning the whole story line is involved in a mystery type thriller with a twist and turn that will blow your socks away. Because all through as I read, I was ready to frame Silent But Dedli then comes in the Asiago Axer. She is a Samurai, but she is woman, and a quite sexy one too. But whoever is she? And whose side is she really on? I am getting more and more confused. And then Rip gets tied up. And guess who he wakes up with!

There is a ‘Lifetime Acheezment Award, whereas Misty Colon and SB Dedli have been in competition for every year! Which is part of the plot twist in this book!

And there is also the ‘National Cheese Cutters Association’ NCA which I know my husband and brothers are both proud members of. Not to mention, the ‘Texas CheeseSaw Massacre.’

After you read this book: maybe you too should join Rip and Rose for some boiled cabbage and eggs! Let that ferment on your mind for a minute….

This book is everything I could’ve ever wanted in a book, it made me smile and laugh so many times, I literally ended up forgetting what I was doing! Need a distraction from life? Read this! It is a five-star read that will make you will tell your friends about for days! And every time you fart, you’ll think about it again! This is a genuine comedy if I have ever read one!

My Interview questions for Scott:
1.     How long did this book take you to write? Less then a week, it was rather quick and easy to write. I just compiled myself and my wit into and book about cutting the cheese and here it is!

2.    What is your favorite thing about this book? The fact that the character of Rip does his moves in slow motion. I mean, who does that? I can just picture it. I just think it unique and funny. And I like that about him.

3.    Did this book make you laugh? Very much so, even as I reread it.

4.    Is your family embarrassed when you talk about farts and make jokes about them? No, they know that’s just me.

Example facebook post from Scott, and I ask if this was legit and he said yes!

5.    Did you plan on being a writer when you were a kid? Yes, ever since I was like in sixth or seventh grade. I just started putting my toys and characters and their actions and thoughts down on paper, and it would just form into books.

6.    Was the Wisconsin Samurai fun to write? Very much so. I even bought a few paperbacks to take with me to work to share them. I want people to read them, to make them laugh.

7.    About how many books have you published this far? I believe around thirty-five, and still going.

8.    What is your favorite book of your own? I’d have to say Mommies Choice, and the Mystic Saga. Mommies Choice was very hard to write toward the end. The last few chapters were very touching. I could only do a chapter at a time.

9.    What are you working on now? The Maxima Files. Every time I think I’m done, I have more to write. It’s a story about a twelve-year-old girl that’s a super hero. You should check it out. They need read in order. It’s really fun and exciting to write too.
