Smart As A Whip by Judith Anderson

Smart As A Whip

By Judith Anderson

*All Kimber photos are copyright of Judith Anderson*

First to be honest, I sought out Judith myself. I read her bio, and the details of this book. I told her what I do, and offered up my services to her. The reason? Because I liked that she wrote about a voluptuous plus sized woman, and wanted to make an amazing story for and about her. I also liked how she presented herself, and I thought my readers would enjoy the insight into her work as well.

The character that Judith writes about in “Smart As A Whip” is Kimber Cassidy, and she is the beautiful woman portrayed on the cover, in her mid twenties, and someone who believes that ‘size doesn’t matter.’

Looking at the cover, and the title, you are probably thinking, this is going to be a story of nothing but sex and erotica, am I right? Is that what you are thinking already? Well stop thinking, and follow along with me, if you will.

Judith is going to take you into her world of BDSM where a murder was committed, and Kimber’s friend Manny was charged for the crime.

You see, one thing that Kimber managed to pick up on from her father, was his detective skills. Unfortunately though, he was killed in the line of duty.

During Kimber’s investigation into the provocative BDSM playplace lifestyle, Kimber will use every bit of the skills she learned from her father, to determine who killed a member of their club. Her investigation enlightens her to things she never knew, including things about her family, and herself, which totally give Kimber a shock to her system that she had never anticipated.

Once Kimber meets another member named Jeremy, she realizes there is another world within the BDSM lifestyle, such as spankings and such. She also is awakened to her own desires, learning that Jeremy is a person who prefers to be a dom.

The fact that deep down inside of herself, Kimber can hear her father’s own words of advice, which manage to keep her focused. Otherwise, Kimber might have managed to have gotten lost in Jeremy. She had to remember, who to trust, and stay wise, otherwise a man was going to be charged for a crime he did not commit.

The book: “Smart As A Whip” is a definite five star read, I liked the fact that it wasn’t just a story of sex, it had a complete story line that you could delve into, and you wanted to solve. It was a mystery, and I have never found a story so intense that I was rooting for the characters, like I was with this one. Judith knows how to tell a story, and I am so glad that I sought her out! She is an amazing story teller!

My questions for Judith:
1. What made you write this and how long did it take you?

While I was promoting for "Nadja's Choice", one question I would get asked is what other genre besides Erotica would I consider writing. I always said Mysteries, because I always enjoyed writing mysteries and thought it would be interesting. After answering this question so many times, I figured I might as well go ahead and just write a damn mystery. It took me about 3 and half months to write "Smart As A Whip"

2. Do you have any photos of Kimber Cassidy? Or maybe a description?

I do have a few photos of how I imagine Kimber in my head. For one, she is depicted on the cover, rather well by the wonderful cover artist at Blushing Books.  She is around 5'10'', long red hair in loose curls, blue eyes, dimples and is plus size with a rather buxom and wide-hipped figure. She's very intelligent, confident, independent and believes that she is very beautiful and sexy woman.

3. What made you decide to create a voluptuous plus size woman?

I wanted to make a heroine that wasn't someone you typically see in this type of format. I also thought that someone who wasn't a Barbie would be a character that my readership could relate to. Specifically, a member of my street team named Kimber Cortez, was posting some pictures of voluptuous redhead right around the time I was beginning to formulate the plot for what was to become "Smart As A Whip". They insipired my thinking and after posting what I was thinking and getting a very favorable response from my readers, that's the direction I went int.

4. What is your favorite book of all time?

"The Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. I'm currently re-reading it now.

5. Who is/are your favorite Author(s) ?

Douglas Adams, Lawrence Block, Maren Smith, Tabitha Black and Alta Hensley

6. Have you ever met any authors IRL?

yes, Maren Smith is a local friend of mine and I've had the pleasure of meeting many Blushing Books authors at their 2015 conference, including Tabitha Black, Alta Hensley and Patty Devlin

7. What is it that makes you desire to write?

I love telling stories and I love entertaining people. I also hope to perhaps open peoples' eyes about things that perhaps they haven't thought of before.

8. Do you ever fantasize or make sure that your sexual positions and acts work before you write about them?

As a member of the BDSM community, I've either done or have witnessed and gone to workshops concerning a lot of the practices that I write about.

9. What are you working on now?

I'm working on a Kimber short story and the second Kimber Cassidy novel

Bella Swann shares "The Claiming of Angelica the SuperNatural Sleuth"...

Bella Swann

Shares with me: "The Claiming of Angelica, the SuperNatural Sleuth" 'Her Erotic Adventures in the Kaiju Kingdom'

I've noticed that many have pet peeves about erotica. I'm not one of them. I in fact will read anything, that is just how much I love to read: which is why I felt I could be a critic with a blog about books. I'm open minded and love to read.

Sorry, I know I often share a bit of me as I write as well. But that's what makes life interesting. Reading, learning and sharing....

Bella Swann is an excellent writer, her words are sensual to say the least. And I won't lie, she managed to awaken my insides rather quickly, and often. Her main character Angelica in my eyes, is extraordinarily beautiful. In real life, it takes contact lenses to have violet eyes. This lovely lady had them, and a body to die for. She is spirited, and just amazing.

Angelica (after researching Bella and the character of Angelica) is a heroine who continuously goes out to help others, and she does this through sex, BDSM, and pain. She isn't afraid to use her body for this, because it pleases her, and in the end it is a much needed satisfaction and pleasure that she truly needed to feel like none other.

There are many books out about Angelica, as you can tell. I don't know if they need to be read in any particular order. But when I read this one, I was pleased, and intend to seek out the rest of them. I would like to read more, and continue seeing how Angelica solves more problems. I think you should too. Who knew solving problems could be so... Sexual. (Big smile!)

I give this book five stars and look forward to hearing more from Angelica and Bella in the near future. Hopefully in my inbox too!

Here are my questions for Bella:

What made you decide to write this book?

I love watching science fiction and fantasy movies and always have been fascinated by the human-monster relationships that developed in them. The curse of an erotica writer who specializes in writing about kinky monster sex and BDSM is always to imagine how humans would have sex with these monsters in order to conquer or be conquered sexually by them. This book, The Claiming of Angelica, the Supernatural Sleuth: Her Erotic Adventures in the Kaiju Kingdom was inspired by the movie Pacific Rim as well as the Godzilla movies. I simply imagined how Angelica’s complete sexual submission to the Kaiju could prevent an apocalypse.

Are any of the characters derived from people you know?

No. As a supernatural sleuth, however, Angelica is my erotic homage to Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Tomb Raider. She’s a beautiful woman with a lot of spunk – if you know what I mean ;-)

Are you considering writing more books?

Absolutely. I love writing erotica as much as I enjoy reading it. So far, I have written three books about Angelica, the Supernatural Sleuth who is one of my favourite characters. In the past, she has gone off on all sorts of erotic adventures including a haunted house (Her Erotic Adventures in the Haunted House on the Hill) and the dangerous Elysian jungle (Her Erotic Adventures in the Dangerous Elysian Jungle). I will soon send her off to explore the North Pole where she will encounter some randy elves and reindeer and a few other horny creatures.

How long did it take you to write this book?

It took a few weeks to plot out the storyline and then do the writing and editing of the story. I have to try to squeeze writing in while working a full-time day job. Sometimes, I am simply too tired to write so I just plot out ideas of what I will write when I have the time.

How many books have you written all together?

So far, I have written 14 books in a few different series. I have a series of some innocent angels who fall into sin called the Angels of the Light series. I have a series of erotic fairy tales called Twisted Fairy Tales for the Sexually Adventurous. I have a Super Heroines in Erotic Bondage and a Warrior Women of Chrysalis series. The series featuring Angelica, the Supernatural Sleuth is called The Sexual Misadventures of Angelica, the Surprisingly Submissive Supernatural Sleuth. My newest series is Submissive Mermaids of Avalon in Erotic Captivity.

What advice would you offer to someone considering or trying to become an aspiring writer?

I would say that you have to have faith in yourself and a thick skin because there will always be people who do not like what you have written and you must not take their criticism to heart. I think you need to also read other people’s stories whether or not they are the same genre that you write in. You can always find inspiration where you least expect it. Finally, if you have great ideas but poor grammatical skills, you need to get an editor or proof reader. Your books are your brand and you do not want to damage your brand with poor writing. If you cannot afford a professional, then go to the English Department at a nearby community college or university and see if you can hire a graduate student to edit your work.

What are your future goals?
I would like to keep writing erotica. I am working on an erotic version of the Cinderella story right now. I also have some ideas about a new vampire series as well as doing erotic interpretations of Greek myths that I would like to write in the future.

Are you currently on a book tour?

Alas, no. I just have to hope that as more and more people buy my books, that word-of-mouth will lead to increased sales instead.

What are your hobbies?

I love reading, and watching movies and TV in all genres. I am currently addicted to Border Security: Canada’s Front Line, Criminal Minds, Stalker, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, and The Mindy Project.

Who are all your favorite writers?

George Orwell, Margaret Atwood, Mercedes Lackey, Beverly Connor, Tanya Huff, Patricia Briggs, John Sandford, and David Eddings.

Have you ever had writer’s block?

I do sometimes get writer's block. This usually happens when a character refuses to act in the way I want him or her to do. It's frustrating because I want to write a scene in a certain way and the character won't let me. When that happens, I stop writing and go away from my computer a while. I think about the story, the specific scene I'm working on, and my character's personality and motivations. Then I go back and sometimes re-write parts of earlier scenes to give my character the personality or motivation he or she needs to act the way I want him or her to act. However, sometimes, I simply change my ideas about what will happen in the scene and write my character according to his or her whims. That tends to solve the problem of writer's block.

Anything that you’d like to add?

My stories are full of explicit and creative fantasies, BDSM, dubious consent, monster sex, pleasurable humiliation, and lots of other fun and sexy kinks. Because erotica writers often push boundaries, some of my books are not available on all sites. If your favourite book seller does not have one of my books, please keep looking on other sites until you find it. Thanks for spending your hard-earned money on my work. I will do my best to give you with lots and lots of happy endings ;-)

"Naughty Wives Collection" 1 by Reed James

Naughty Wives Collection
by Reed James

When I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I read it in one evening. The book just grabbed me, and pulled me in.

Husbands and wives always want to spice up their marriages, and these couples do it. And you can't help it, but follow along and read.

Only once did I get drop jaw, and that was with the Police Officer. Frank and Evie play "naughty hooker" but for real on the streets and out of the bedroom. I knew when they were taking it to the streets, right there was a mistake.

And low and behold an officer of the law sees her strutting her stuff on the corner, and than "A John" pick her up, and her accept money. Mistake number one. They try to convince the officer their married, and it's just for fun, but he won't hear of it. Instead he cops a feel. And in the long run, he gets the deal of a century, and makes out with the money too!

Eventually Evie confesses to her best friend Cherry, and eventually she gets involved. Cherry's husbands job causes him to travel a lot, and he cheats, but he still loves his wife.

My favorite is that no matter what happens, these people see and work their problems, through sexual frustration, and stay together.

Personally, I think in the long run, the should become a four some, or swingers or something, together. But.... That's just my opinion.

However, I enjoyed this book very much. It's very well written, easy to understand, and I very much; enjoyed it. I give it five out of five stars!

My Interview Questions for Reed:

Image of Reed James

1. Did you live these fantasies out, out of curiosity? If not, are they your fantasies?
No, I didn't live out any of these fantasies, they are all the product of my over-active imagination.

2. Are any of these characters by chance, you?
Afraid not. I'm far more boring than anyone in my stories.

3. How did you come up with these sexual idea's?
I don't know how it is for other erotica authors, but these are my own sexual fantasies. So when I'm 'brainstorming' I think about scenarios and keep thinking about them until they really excite me. If I'm excited, so will someone else.

4. The story behind the Evie & Frank and Officer Connolly and him stealing $160, wherever did you come up with that story? In the end, I kind of laughed. The story was intense!
The stealing the money was an after thought. I had written the story and during editing I realized that the officer had pocketed the money Frank had 'paid' his wife as part of their roleplay and it struck me as funny and a nice way to end the story.

5. Some couples might have broken up over these situations, like cheating, yet these people just became more horny and sexual. Why?
Because it's hot. Because they love each other and it gives them pleasure to see their partner experience their fantasies and have some joy. It takes a strong bond of trust to delve into the world they do, but trust is a fragile thing and it can so easily be broken. Evie skirted that line, praying that she knew her husband well enough while she enjoyed her fantasy.

6. How long have you been writing?
I have been writing off and on since Junior High. When I turned thirty a few years ago, I realized I had never seriously pursued my dream of being a writer and had let my twenties slip away. Even then, it took me a while to really develop the discipline to begin writing. I started writing a Fantasy novel and felt my writing skills weren't honed enough. So I decided to write other things for practice and I had always liked writing dirty stories, so I began doing that and posting them on free stories sites. I received a lot of great feedback and encouragement, as well as tips on cleaning up my grammar, and felt I was ready to self-publish erotica while writing my non-erotic novel.

7. What kinds of education have you had?
High School graduate and a community college drop out. Dumbest decision I ever made.

8. What all have you written thus far?
Besides the Naughty Wife Series, I've written a lesbian series called 'Seducing Straight Women' about Aurora who makes a bet that she can seduce any woman, no matter how straight, and it chronicles her various seductions. I have a supernatural story called the Virgin Possessed, a series on wifes who cheat right under their husbands noses, and I'm writing Futanari stories.

9. Have or are you currently on book tour?
I'm not on any book tours.

10. Why did you choose to write erotica?
When I was in Junior High my parents bought me a computer and I had internet access in my bedroom. This was the nineties when it was dial-up on 33.3k modem. Within the first hour I was browsing porn. No it took forever to download a single, low-res photo and that wouldn't do, but then I found whiteshadows.net, a now defunct XXX story site. I was already an avid reader and here was porn I could easily download and enjoy. Soon I was writing my own stories, but I never finished them or posted them, and then I graduated high school and started working and I stopped writing. So when I took up writing again, erotica seemed like a great way to practice my writing as well as write the sort of stories that excited me.

11. Do you yourself get horny as you write? (IE: does your own writing turn you on?)
Yes. I'm always turning myself on. If you can't turn yourself on with your erotica, then maybe you're doing it wrong. Even during rewrites and editing when I'm rereading my erotica I often get turned on.

12. Who is your favorite Author?
Robert Jordan who wrote the amazing Wheel of Time series. Not only is he my favorite author, he also has had the most profound effect on my writing style. I also enjoy Tolkein, Brandon Sanderson, David Eddings, R. Scott Bakker, Steven Eriksen, and Jim Butcher.

14. Anything you would like to add:
Thank you Deneale for providing me with this opportunity. I had a lot of fun!
