Burlesque by Christopher Logan

 Burlesque
by Christopher Logan
If you remember the book D.R.A.G.

then allow me to introduce to you

yet another book by the same producer:

Christopher Logan

 Today we bring to you:

Another book that belongs on your coffee table, that everyone will admire, and adore. A book of pure beauty, and class.

Within this, I have given you a few teaser photos, as well as ask Christopher to give me a few lines to share with you.

So here we are from Christopher himself: "The sequel to the dr.a.g. coffee table book will be available as of this Monday the 15th for Orders, with books arriving in March.

This time we focused on the stars of the world of BURLESQUE, including Michelle L'Amour, Immodesty Blaize, Lou Lou D'Vil, Scarlett James, Dita Von Teese, The Stage Door Johnnies and many more."
Again, here we have more input from Christopher:

"I started making these books as a window to funding film projects: hence, our name Bookthefilm Publishing. But it's become so much more to me. It's become a way to celebrate diversity and inclusion through showcasing other people's art. There's such a rich variety within each sub-genre: drag, burlesque, etc....

The first book was beautifully (and critically) well-received, but the finance of it was another thing altogether. Could be my inexperience at publishing, or that the 'downloadable' world of today isn't fit for someone making only one or two books (and printed ones only) at the time.
This time around, the Burlesque book will be only available by direct sales at www.bookthefilm.com. It's an effort to take control and move forward in a way that will allow many more books to come. In the US, UK and Canada, the books are available at www.bookthefilm.com, and will be available in rest of Europe through bookstores, online, etc after June.

I was thrilled with the easy and honest connection I had with the drag community, due to being in the film Connie And Carla. The Burlesque community proved just as open and embracing. I'm hopeful they will adore this new book as much as the drag community and others embraced the first.

I'm pushing headlong back into acting now that my bookworld is 'off and running' enough that I can step away from time to time. I've a trifecta of Science Fiction parts coming up this month, with roles on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural, and a guest starring role on the new X-Files."
I then decided to ask Christopher if he would be putting these beautiful books together every year, and he answered with this:

"I would love to be able to do one book each year...but I'm not quite that fast yet. Hopefully things will keep on moving and pick up steam and I can pull things together in a shorter timeframe."
For those who don't know....D.R.A.G. is where men are dressed as women. And these books are used to raise funds for the photographers, and artists, and people. So, in conclusion, if you would kindly tell your friends about www.bookthefilm.com and his books,m this one and D.R.A.G. you would be helping.
Thank you for any and all help that you can give in sharing this book, the idea behind this book, with your friends and family.

Before I close, I would like to say, that I give this book, "Burlesque" five fancy stars. It is a pleasure to see and admire for anyone who enjoys art, beauty and class. And I speak from experience, I have grandchildren from the ages of several months old to five years. All have seen this book, they ask to see it constantly. As do my own Children. Get this book, I guarantee, it will entertain everyone. Trust me, I know.

"dr.a.g. bookthefilm edition"

"dr.a.g. bookthefilm edition"

When Christopher sought me ought to review this book, as oft I am, I was honored. He sent me the PDF format and explained I wouldn't get what I needed from it. I truly needed to 'see' it. Seemed odd, but went with it.

After receiving the book, my grand daughter whom is nineteen months old was sitting beside me, and my Son on the other side. We began flipping through the pages. My grand daughter sat quietly still, viewing everything in awe. My son said, "Wow these are some damn fine women!" I looked over at him and explained the term: "drag." After explaining it to him, he answered with, "If any of these Dudes came up to me and kissed me I tell you what, I'd never know the difference and I certainly would kiss them back. And if they divulged to me afterwards they were a man in drag, I would be like: 'Amazing! You still look gorgeous!' And I wouldn't be mad! Anyone who puts that much work into looking that beautiful deserves respect and to be admired like art work! I would show him/her off everyday!" Serious words from my own Son, Dexter.

My Grand Daughter looked through the entire book with me and oohed over several pages. She was quite fascinated. I imagine the bright colors and art work helped too.

The book in itself is a piece of art. It is breath taking, as are the people within the book. They've went through great lengths to pick out their signature looks and make a signature statement. The book speaks for itself, although there are a few lines within it, as well as the definition of "drag" and how it came to exist.

The beautiful red head you see here is Jeffree Star. I chose to put him in my review because I personally love his look. Downright sexy and appealing. I love how the make up is worn, and I have a fetish with sexy eye brows if it can be considered a thing; as well as how brave he was to even pose in the photo on the next page, quite revealing to say the least. My husband loved his tattoos. Everything about him is enticing, but again: everyone in this book is, and sadly I can't post everyone. What good would the book be if I did that, I mean come on now?!

Here is another favorite. But before I continue, I'm going to say, I chose this one, because I'm prejudice and a big Cher fan. So truly I can't play fair with this choice. This however is not Cher; but is: Chad Michaels. I will point out a few things as a Cher fan though. There are definite differences in the two of you that I spotted immediately. Needless to say, I will be nice, and not point them out. I would love to know though? Can you sound or walk like her? How about the tongue roll? I'd still love to meet you though Chad, I won't lie. I definitely would hang on your arm and parade you around town proudly! There's no doubt in my mind! You're still sexy! "I got you Babe!"

This is Jim Bailey. Hard to believe isn't it? The aged look is so real isn't it? He has performed for the British Royal Family, which Christopher Logan explains to you at the end of the book. Jim has done a lot of film and TV appearances and is quite famous!

The purpose in the exquisite book, is to raise funds for independent film productions. All of the photographers, the performers who are featured within this amazing book, donated their work to help with this project. For that Christopher Logan and www.bookthefilm.com are and always will be eternally grateful!

I have already shown this book to many family of my family members who cannot put it down, and they just keeping looking at it again and again, in awe. I think, those of you who keep magazines on the coffee table, need to consider this book for the job. It would look much more enticing on a coffee table then any magazine could ever dream of! Not to mention, it has much more meaning than most magazines. Check it out! You'll be glad you did, trust me!

Now here are my questions for Christopher:

1. Who are you and how are you associated with this book?
My name is Christopher Logan and I'm an actor and filmmaker who conceived the book project. I produced the book, contacting all the performers and photographers and arranging all the photos and licensing and worked with designer Mamio Marais to complete the book. I started Bookthefilm Publishing to continue to produce books to raise funding for independent film production, while celebrating diversity.
2. Why didn't you include a few stories or two on these people? Not just their beautiful photos?
I like the photos to speak for themselves. In this day and age, information is just a click away, so those who want to explore more can do so easily. This way, we stay focused on the art and the final product instead of dissecting the transformation and career.
3. Are you by chance also a dr.a.g or have you ever considered it?
I was a drag performer for several years, and appeared in drag in the film Connie and Carla.

4. Did you by chance get to meet any of these people?
I've met the majority of the performers in the book and most of the photographers through the process. Most of the in person meetings came at book launch events and after the book was put together.
5. How long did you do research on this book?
It took about two years from concept to completion. I had a great working knowledge of the drag scene to begin with, and was well versed on who were my must haves and who else to approach.

6. Have you ever been to any dr.a.g events or shows?
I've been to too many to count lol

7. Who is your favorite dr.a.g person, if you by chance do have 1 or two?
I'm most impressed by Jim Bailey who took drag to the next level with live impersonation, and a tribute that show a great amount of study and respect. He also 'went where no man had gone before' being an impersonator on the Carol Burnett Show and before drag was as well seen or accepted as it is today.
8. Who are your favorite authors?
I adore AS Byatt and keep a copy of her Little Black Book of Stories by my bed. I've reread them all numerous times and am always swept away by her evocative use of language. I also enjoy a good page turner and burner like John Grisham or Anne Rice. Something to sweep away a few hours on a place or get you out of your head for half the day.
