Tape to Tape ~ The Venom Series 3 by: V.L. Locey

Tape to Tape
The Venom Series 3
By: V.L. Locey

The best part about reading Vicki’s books is the fact that not only do I get sports, I get romance. That is what I like best about reading her books. It puts a whole new kick on the taste, and it makes it so much more interesting.

This time we get to spend time with Coach Dot West, or better known as “The Shadow.”

Now Dot is a woman who likes to do everything on her own, and doesn’t want nor need help from anyone, and she likes it that way. She doesn’t want to have to look back and say, “Yeah I wouldn’t be here if it was for so and so.” Dot wants to be the one take all the credit for making it on her own.

But we all know when we least expect it, a man walks in, am I right, or am I right?

Dot meets this guy, known as Theo, and I must admit, his description made me lick my lips. And by the sounds of Theo, I think he even knows he is a looker, too.
Anyway, Theo is a former goalie for the Wildcats, and is now a co-host of a very controversial radio sports talk show. The show is based in Philly, which is of course of the Venom.

Well one day, Dot ends up losing her cool and calls in to the show. Now you know us women, we are usually famous for the last word. But this ends up back firing, and the smug fool that Theo is, gets Dot into the chair of the radio station.

Dot has always been one to keep her guard up, she doesn’t feel that needs or wants a man in her life, but the sparks ignite, and she can’t help but feel drawn toward Theo. There is just something about him.

She keeps trying to tell herself no, but her heart keeps telling her to go for it. Dot has a hard decision to make, with this truly exciting story of eye opening romance.

This book “Tape to Tape” is truly a five star read, I could feel the stubbornness in Dot as I read, and I could so relate. She is an amazing woman, who truly wants to be her own individual, and wants to give no one else credit. A lot of women are strong like this, today.

This is truly a very emotional read, and you can feel the vibes as you read it! I loved every moment of this book, and I think that you the readers will too! Vicki is truly a great sporty story teller!

Here are my questions for Vicki:

1. What made you write this book and how long did it take you?
I just love a good saucy couple. You know, the kind who start out snapping and snarling at each other, but end up realizing that they belong together, despite some obstacles. That’s Dot and Theo. It usually takes me about a month to write a 50K novel, sometimes more or less.

2. What are you working on now?
At the moment I’m working on an M/M hockey romance called Open Net, which is part of a planned duology.

3. Do you have any photos or descriptions of the characters?
I can do better! I have a whole Pinterest board filled with images of Dot, Theo, and other characters and settings!

4. Obviously, you like hockey, but how hard is it to write about it too?
For me writing the hockey action is pretty easy, since I watch SO much hockey. Generally, I try to plan out what happens on the ice beforehand. This way I can lead the reader through the action. In a way it’s like choreographing a dance only the dancing is on ice.

5. What led you to writing?
I actually started writing seriously because I had seen a movie and disliked how it was presented. I sat down and in a fit of anger, wrote my first fan fiction. After realizing I could put down the stories bouncing around inside my head, I buckled down and started dedicating myself to pursuing my dream. So I like to kiddingly say that Brian Singer is the reason I started writing.

6. What is your favorite book of all time?
Oh boy, there are too many that I love to pick just one. I might be able to narrow it down to a few favorites. Outlander for sure as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels. I reread them all the time.

7. Have you ever met any other authors? How about famous hockey players?
I haven’t met any other authors in person yet, but I am headed to an event outside of Pittsburgh in March so I’m looking forward meeting some of my online friends there! As for hockey players, no, I haven’t met any famous ones yet. The next time I’m in New York for a game, I plan to linger around outside MSG until I get to meet at least one darn Ranger!

8. What are your hobbies?
I like to read, walk, do yoga, and play video games.

9. Is hockey as bloody as they make it out to be on TV? (And I mean for parents too)
It’s not nearly as bloody as it used to be. The league is trying to cut back on the fisticuffs, but there are still fights on occasion. It’s a part of the game. Some fans love it and some hate it. The age of the goon (a player who is on the team solely for his size and fists) is pretty much over. Hockey is now more about skill and speed now and less about punching people.

Twirly Girl (Venom Series 2) By: V.L. Locey

Twirly Girl

Venom Series 2
By: V. L. Locey

Alicia Avery is team Venoms Captain, who is born into a very powerful political family. This means she must act the part of a well behaved young woman, all prim and proper and play hockey too.

If you know hockey, you know it involves a strong person, and a lot of exercise and work out. Being team captain, it also will involve being in charge and scheduling and making sure things flow properly, and keeping the team in high spirits, and wanting to win. Hockey means you have goals, literally and physically. Along with that, comes pain and agony.

Alicia’s parents dictate to her, and Alicia stays focused with her determination. Her determination is met with a radical new hair cut. Her parents are anything but pleased.
Then an unplanned acquaintance catches the eye of Alicia. A street performer, who is raising his daughter alone, catches her eye, and she can’t help but find him interesting. His name is Dale Christie, and his daughter is Wren Song.

This man is very wrong for Alicia, per everyone who judges her thinks. But Alicia is strong willed, and can’t stop thinking about him, and her thoughts seem to be focused on him no matter what she does.

Everyone thinks that you should pick the perfect mate, or person out by their bank account, by their promise of their future, and things like this. But Alicia cannot will herself to do that.

The heart wants what the heart wants.

Hockey has always been the only thing Alicia has ever wanted and needed. Nothing more, nothing less. Until now. Now her thoughts are distracted, and she cannot focus.
Alicia’s whole life is turned upside down, and she must make a decision….

I give this book five stars, because I couldn’t put it down. I was in love with the complete turnaround Alicia went through. I have been there, I have tried to convince my parents that what they wanted for me was not the right thing, but they didn’t care. Everyone around always thinks they know what is best for you. They don’t realize they just don’t understand your needs. This book will help you see, what it is that the heart wants. “Twirly Girl” is a remarkable book that is about the love and understand of a person’s own feelings, and listening to their self first, and no one else. You will enjoy this, if you love remarkable eye opening and true romances.

My questions for Ms. Locey:
1. What made you write this book and how long did it take?

I wanted to pen a sports romance series where the leading ladies weren't the typical size 2, blonde, bubbly heroines. I wanted to show the world that a woman with curves and some sass could win the heart of the handsome younger man even if she were not Susie Sunshine. All of my heroines, and heroes when talking about my M/M books, are not Princes or Princesses. They are flawed and it shows. Some are heavy, some are painfully shy, some are in their 40's or 50's, some are handicapped, and one in particular is just an out-and-out jerk. Yes, I'm looking at you, Victor Kalinski.

Pink Pucks probably took about a month for a completed first draft. I spend at least 2-3 hours per day writing, so things go rather quickly most generally.

2. Are you yourself into Hockey?

Oh yes, I am a super rabid New York Rangers fan. I make a yearly pilgrimage to New York City with my best buddy Michele (another huge hockey fan) just to visit Madison Square Garden to see a Rangers game. My family and I also attend as many minor league games as we can since we have an ECHL team close by.

3. Do you have photos or descriptions of Viviana, her sister and/or Alain?

I have a Pinterest board with all sorts of images for Pink Pucks & Power Plays, as well as all my other books. Here's the link:

4. What are your hobbies?

I love to read, do yoga, collect Marvel comics, watch hockey, chill with my chickens, play video games, and enjoy going to the movies with my hubby and daughter.

5. What all education do you have?

I have a high school diploma.

6. What do you suggest to aspiring authors?

There are two things that I like to pass along to folks who are hoping to write that book they've been dreaming of:

1-Do not let anyone tell you that you are too fat, skinny, young, old, handicapped, rich, poor, green, purple, yellow, brown, white, or lime green to follow your dreams.

2-Put your backside in that chair and write. All the talent, amazing characters, and superb plots mean nothing if you do not learn the discipline required to be an author. That means your butt in that chair every day, no matter what. I know, it's harsh advice, but it's one of the most important things that I can pass along aspiring authors.

7. What are you working on now?

At the moment I'm working on a book for my Venom erotic hockey series titled Angle Play. The Venom series spun off the To Love a Wildcat series and is about a women's pro team playing in Philly.

8. Who is/are your favorite Author(s)?

Oh boy, there are so many! Off the top of my head, we'll go with J.R. Ward, Diana Gabaldon, George RR Martin, Rick Riordan, and Armistead Maupin. My reading tastes are all over as you can see.

Pink Pucks & Power Plays (To Love a Wildcat, #1) by V.L. Locey

Pink Pucks & Power Plays

By V.L. Locey

We all know how it is, having a younger sister. Viviana Land is a curvaceous society page reporter that gets talked into helping her nieces Busy Bee Scout leader. This leads the girls to Green Hills Ice Rink....

Viviana is a very self absorbed character with many flaws. However like more people, she needs to find a way to make her career and her love life come together and make her life have meaning.

Alain Lessard one handsome hunk from the Philadelphia Wildcats is donating his summer to coaching the youth league.

Alain is truly a focused hockey player who loves working with people, and his community. His priorities have always been hockey, and… well hockey. Until he met Viviana it was then that his sparks were awakened.

Viviana is handed an opportunity to write the break out story of her career. And she can’t help but flirt and tease some juicy tidbits from Alain, a great hockey defense-men. However, without even noticing Viviana finds herself falling for the younger hunk.

Can and will Viviana put her virtual pen away for a chance at this new chance at the perfect career choice or will she finally get away from those annoying bakery opening articles by using the man she could possibly be in love with? Can she make the right choice here?

Can and will Vivian and Alain make their relationship work? For that matter should they? And will Viviana learn to becoming less self absorbed, and a better person, now that she has a man to focus on. It’s time to read and find out more yourself!

This book is a truly sporty five star read, relating to young teens, and hockey. I enjoyed the relationships with the family, and the fact that these characters truly seemed life like.

Viviana truly had an attitude just like an independent self absorbed woman. Alain’s character is very strong, and truly emotional and helps to make the book more memorable as he brings the romance to life. You will truly enjoy this book, it will enlighten you on hockey, and even careers and relationships. This book “Pink Pucks and Power Plays” was a very inspirational sporty read!
