Firefly of Immortality (The guardians of Light Book 1) by Kasey Hill

Firefly of immortality (The Guardians of Light book 1)

By: Kasey Hill

I met Kasey Hill on Facebook and haven’t read her books until now. What led me to her is her creativity with her cover creations. I am always admiring them. They are all truly eye-catching, and the covers alone leave you wanting to read her books.

She asked me from the get-go if reading books about religion would bother me. I told her no. She then told me to read this series, and this is book one of said series.

I started reading and that was it, I was hooked. I finished this book in less than a day, because it totally pulled me in. I had to get to the ending to see what was going to become of the Gods. Sophie completely caught my attention, because she was an angel born of earth. On top of that, Sophie has a problem when she enters the Earth, it’s her memories. And that is where the trouble lies.

Sophie has a love interest Incaendiel, and with that also lies a problem. But Incaendiel doesn’t give up. He keeps trying to get her memories to form. But watch out, because that too, could create another predicament.

In this story, there is a war on the horizon. The Angels are trying to get their parents’ attention, and please them. But can and will it happen? Sophie is the one angel who can help with everything happening. But like I said, she is having issues of her own. Will it be a good thing if Sophie does remember? This is where you as the reader come in. Because I’m not going to blow the story for you. You need to get your copy and see what happens.

This book is intriguing and will keep you guessing. I give it five stars and intend to read the rest of the series, not to mention the other books that Kasey has written. She has a writing style that is different to most. Down to earth and eye opening. I give this book five stars. I am certain you will too.

My interview with Kasey:

1. What made you write this book and how long did it take?

When I started writing this book, I had a lot of inspiration from both Supernatural, dreams, and actual research into the varying mythologies of the world. I had been researching and writing nonfiction for eight years at that point. After the apocalyptic angel dreams wouldn't stop, I sat down and began weaving together everything I had learned up to that point into this book. It took me 5 days to write it in 2015.

2. What is your favorite part of this book?

I don't have a favorite scene if that it is what you are asking. Overall, this book and the series that follows are my favorite series because of the rich tapestry I was able to blend together. Romantic fantasy, high fantasy, and dark fantasy splatter the pages in a mythical retelling of the biblical creation story. It dives into deep, emotional concepts while an apocalyptic war is on the horizon.

3. Who designed the cover?

I designed the cover. When I first had it published, it was through a publisher who wouldn't use my cover because it wasn't dark enough for their liking, since they were a horror imprint. Once I regained the rights after the publishing house closed, I changed the cover to another one, but I was still unsatisfied, so I turned to Facebook to ask what I should use. Many people commented they liked the original cover I had designed, and showed them when I was debating self-publishing it. From there, the only things that have changed are fonts and color schemes.

4. What are you working on now?

I am working on book 6 of this series while people beta read book 5. It is supposed to be published sometime in May once I get feedback on it.

5. What are your hobbies?

Writing, of course. Plus, I format, edit, and do cover work. I also enjoy painting and going camping when the weather permits. We live right by a vast lake in our area, so it's convenient.

6. Who is your favorite author and why?

I have had so many throughout the years. One that will never change is Clive Barker. I picked up his book, The Thief of Always, from my school library in 6th grade and read it over and over. It was my favorite book. It remains one of the top stories I have ever read. His world-building was phenomenal in it.

7. What made you want to be a writer when you grew up?

I have always been a writer. It started in school when we had writing prompts for the Standards of Learning tests we took at the end of each year. Then, in 5th grade, my English teacher started handing out chocolate bars to us if we wrote a creative fiction story and read it out loud to the class. It was my first paying gig lol

8. What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

Being able to control the story's narrative. I love reading about different worlds, and yes, that includes the mundane world books too. I get to live inside that book for a few hours (it doesn't take me long to read). When I realized I could create my own worlds and live in them forever by writing, it was the best gift I could receive. Plus, I hope that one day my kids will start enjoying reading like I did when I was growing up, and they'll ask to read my books. I wrote the books for them.

9. Have you ever met any famous writers, if so who?

In person, no, I haven't. If I could, I would love to meet Clive Barker or Cassandra Clare.

Scandalous By: Alexis Kennedy

Scandalous

By: Alexis Kennedy

This book, did you see the cover? I love it! I have a similar painting like this is my craft room, without the girl, but its ships with an orange sky. What?! You don’t want to hear about that? Oh. The book. Got it, my bad.

Well, it takes place a long, long time ago in 1860. There’s this guy, whose name is Adrian Casimir. But in all honesty, he is really Captain Bain Navarre, who happens to be a pirate on the high seas. However, he has disguised himself as Adrian and as a shipping mogul.

Now, there’s this lady, her name is Farrah Devore, her father has recently been widowed, and he is a plantation owner. Farrah, is struggling with the loss of her mother, and a courtship to a man she doesn’t even want to be with: Ethan Abrams.

Farrah’s eye’s catch the view of the handsome pirate, and she can’t help but feel her insides stir, as her desires awaken, and needs she never even knew she had come alive.

Adrian has plenty up his sleeve, and everyone knows they are not meant to be, but when a woman has wants and needs, she isn’t about to let anything get in her way. However, even family will stop at nothing to interfere with her new-found desires.

And this is a time where a nation is being ripped apart by hatred, war is the answer for everything, and brothers will fight against brothers, and it doesn’t really matter who is right in the long run. So, let me ask you this, do you honestly think love can survive, and conquer all? And do you think it is meant to be? What will become of the pirate and Farrah if anything?

You must buy this book yourself to find out, I can’t just give you all of the answers! The only thing I will tell you, is this: Alexis Kennedy is a wonderful writer, and she will keep you guessing, and wanting more, as you follow her through her ‘Scandalous’ words. She promises an excellent read, and has done just that with an excellent five-star book, once again!

My questions for Alexis:

1. What made you write this book and how long did it take you?
I wanted to try writing historical romance since it’s a new genre to me, and I really enjoyed it. It took me 24 days to write it.

2. Who designed this beautiful cover?
I chose the photos, and The Magic Quill Graphics designed it.

3. Do you have any photos or descriptions of the characters that you can share with us?
Farrah Devore is a strong willed and fearless young lady. She’s mourning her mother and trying to be a proper Southern belle for her father’s sake. When she meets Adrian Casimir, she feels the first feelings of desire and love. Opposed to the idea of marrying the man her father wants to force upon her, she runs away to find Adrian.
Adrian Casimir is my favorite book boyfriend! He’s dashing, of course, strong, clever, kind, sexy, and courageous. He’s a shipping mogul in Arlington, Virginia, but he’s Bain Navarre, pirate captain of the Night Marauder, on the high seas.

4. What are you working on now?
I’m writing Pin-Up Girl, a choose-your-own adventure book, at the moment. I used to love those books when I was a kid. 😊 Set in 1954, it is the adventure of wallflower Amelia Green as a photographer discovers her and helps her realize her dream of being a star.

5. Where do you get your story ideas from?
I’ve always had an active imagination, but sometimes a movie or television show, or even just a conversation with someone, will inspire a book. Sometimes, I come up with the title first, like with Angry House, and then I’ll come up with the story to go with it.

6. Have you ever received a negative review? If so, why do you think people leave one star reviews?
Yes, I’ve had one-star reviews before; thankfully, not many. One that I remember is one where the reviewer admitted to not even reading the whole book. She skipped whole sections. In that case, I don’t feel the review was warranted. I understand that not every book is for everyone, but I believe in being fair with your reviews. If you didn’t even use the product, how can you honestly review it?
Why do people leave one-star reviews? I’m not sure, but I guess they might be reading outside of their usual genre, and it just wasn’t for them. Also, maybe the characters seemed flat. I read a book once that had such a slow start, it took me about eight tries to finally read it, and then I liked it. She just needed to fix the beginning, which was boring.

7. Did you imagine yourself becoming an Author when you were younger? Was that one of your dreams as a child?
No, I wanted to be a veterinarian or teacher when I was little. I became a teacher in the end. I’ve been writing poetry since I was 14 as a way to deal with my feelings when my older brother died. My first novel was a short story that I wrote for a boyfriend in 2009. I kept looking at it and decided it was good enough to turn into a book. Thus, Bound Through Blood came to fruition.

8. Have you ever thrown a manuscript away?
          No, not yet. 😊

9. What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
When readers beg me for more. I also like escaping into worlds I can control when I feel like I’ve lost control of my life.

10. Do your characters ever tell ‘you’ what to write, per se?
Yes, I don’t plot my stories out. I go with the flow and what my characters want. I like to watch everything unravel and reveal itself.

11. Who is your favorite Author of all time?
          Shannon Drake

The Influence of Military Strategies to Business By: M.D. White

The Influence of Military Strategies to Business

By: M.D. White

When I received this book, I thought it would be a good choice and time to share, read and review this. With the World the way it is today, economically everything is changing. And the Military and their families can use all the help that we can get and give to them, and not just from the Military's point of view. Therefore, I found this insight something that needed shared for many reasons.

Mr. White wrote this insightful, educational, and enlightening book not just because he felt that it would benefit others, but because he wanted to. He used his expertise education that he gained from being a Psychological warfare consultant, as well as his business strategy education. Mr. White is also educated in Business Management and Leadership expert. With these fine skills, Mr. White spent years testing theories, and strategies, until he was certain he had mastered perfect scenarios worthy of sharing with the world, thus creating this book: The Influence of Military Strategies to Business.

Now, as you are looking at this title, you are probably thinking this is some kind of financial handbook, or guidebook on making ends meet with your military paycheck or something. But this is not the case with this book.

Here, Mr. White will try and show you ways to work with your employees, and build a successful team with your business. Gleam and groom your business managers, and prune them to grow and succeed, and prosper.

This book can even help in your Political field. Showing you how to build success under you, and even around you. The world is your battlefield, and you must be ready to combat it, daily. In order to win, you must be ready, and willing to fight for what you want.

Mr. White had this to say and I quote: "No amount of experience in crucial conversations, or business negotiations, can prepare you better than the information you'll gleam from this manual. It's truly a politician’s guide to psychological warfare. Perhaps its President Trumps bible, and what he reads every night. The moral of the story is: Use it, or be used by it! Current geopolitical controversies only emphasize this point."

I am only giving you the opportunity to look further into this book, as I think you should if you want your business, or even yourself to succeed further. Much of what is said in this book makes complete sense. You need to think about what I am going to say to you right now: If you have something, money, business, jewels, etc, think about how many simply envy you because you have it, even if you earned it yourself. Those people want what you have and will do whatever it takes to take it away from you. Does this not seem a little like war? It may only be a competition, and you only have to fight to keep what it is yours, even when people wrongfully steal it. But still..in order to win, you need advantages. Just a thought to ponder right there. And within the pages of this book, there are a lot of advantages that you can learn when reading it.

I truly found this book very educational and eye opening. I learned a lot, and am very glad that I read it. I give this book five stars and honestly wish that I could give it more. This is a book that I feel that everyone should read, and honestly, I mean everyone. It will educate you, and make you think and see a lot clearer, as well as understand. Mr. White even explains everything in a way that is understandable too, he wasn’t intimidating, very professional.

My questions for Mr. White:
1. What made you write this book and how long did it take you?
I am a huge business, finance, and entrepreneur buff. Anything business or investment related, I'm all in. So, it was the obvious choice for me. If I was to write a book it had to be business related, or a work used to inspire others in achieving their plans, goals and dreams.
The information provided in this book stems from a life's worth of studying, once you've got all the knowledge and experience the rest is fairly simple. The hardest part is breaking down all the principles and philosophies into terms that all can understand. While still making it fun and practical. This book, with these goals in mind, took 3 years--working part time.

2. Who designed the cover?
With a little direction from me, Katie Norton.

3. Do you have any photos or descriptions of yourself that you can share with us?
Yes.

4. What are you working on now?
A book not too different from this one. At least as it relates to the market audience. The new book is geared towards the more sinister side of us. It can be used for good or evil. It is a book on the art of power. It covers, in part, communications, manipulation, influence, deception, leadership, management, politics,  diplomatic relations, persuasion, psychological warfare, the “con” game, and so much more. Its purpose is to arm yourself for a world like ours. It may surely become a staple in everyone's library.

5. What motivates you to write?
The motivation is to teach myself how to do better. I study from all the greats...all the experts in every industry and place all of the most important information into a master book that I use for my reference, and I then start to rewrite what works only after I've had the opportunity to explore all available options. I compile these into a book to become more efficient. So I am motivated by my own selfish desires--to save my time.

6. If you were to get writers block, or have ever had it, what do you do for it?
Read. Usually I'll go pick up a Wall Street Journal and look for new ideas or investments BEFORE the next BIG THING jumps into my head. Bye Bye writers block.
If this fails to work for any reason I'd go out and find a stimulating conversation, that had nothing to do with my writings, and wait for inspiration. It usually comes within 15 minutes. Nothing too fancy.

7. What suggestions can you offer for the aspiring writers out there?
Write. Write. Write. Never give up. It's not always easy but it us rewarding. It could establish self worth, and, definitely, demonstrates value to the world--and, most importantly, your family.

8. How long have you been writing?
All my life. Never took it seriously until a few years ago. I regret not starting earlier.

9. What are your hobbies?
Business investing. Financial wizardry. Creative investments. Reading. Writing. Creating. Spending time with the family.
Teaching people how to make money, live healthy, and be inspired.

10. Do you put yourself into your characters?
My “characters” are generally real world figures who have experienced the same things that I have. So it would be easy to “put [myself] into [my] characters,” because I've been there. The difference is that the characters that I use are notable people with known records.

11. Where is your favorite place to write?
My closet or home office.

12. Please share with us your social media and book links:

13. Anything to add::
I spend the majority of my time lifting people up. I love to motivate and inspire those who lack the confidence in themselves. I am a firm believer that I can teach ANYONE to be rich, healthy, positive, prosperous, and happy. They just require a little guidance, and someone that believes in them. This is me.
Accept my challenge and be AMAZED.
