A Snow Covered Nightmare

Refuge Series Book Two
By: Debbie Zello

As always, when Debbie Zello puts a book out, I’m there. She’s one of my personal favorites. As you can tell this is book two of the refuge series. Now then, let us begin our journey with the review:

Briah Spencer has witnessed her bosses own murder, which in itself, is a scary and brutal event. Because of this, her head now has a price on it. Fortunately, Briah has been put under the protection of Aiden Baldwin, and he is one of Denvers finest homicide detectives.

The killer that Briah identified happens to be David Slater, none other than Denver’s biggest crime boss. Knowing all of this, can worry a person sick. Simply put, imagine how Briah must feel.

As I stated, Briah had to be put into witness protection, and the detective was assigned to protect her. With two men after her, the detective felt they would be safe in the mountains, and maybe they could even enjoy some skiing, and relaxation. Maybe this could help Briah and distract her thoughts away from everything that was happening.

Aiden was starting to sink into a whiskey bottle, but apparently his heart had different plans for him. Would Briah stay focused on the snow or on Aiden? Perhaps destiny has intervened. What does the future have in store for these two? That’s for you to find out when you read this book.

Personally, what I liked about this book is how it started right from the very beginning. It didn’t start off slow, everything happened right from the very get go. I like it when a book grabs you right from the start and pulls you in. And that’s what this book did, that’s what all of Debbie’s books do.

I give this book 5 stars and think that you should give it a walk through yourself, because you will not be disappointed. As always, Debbie’s books keep you entertained from beginning to end. If you haven’t checked her out yet you need to.

My questions for Debbie:
1. What made you write this book and how long did it take you?
A Snow Covered Nightmare is the second book in the Refuge Series. The series are all independent books from each other but have a reoccurring theme of where is your refuge, your safe place?

The story practically wrote itself. Briah and Aiden shared their romance with me and I wrote the book in about a month. I've always been a fan of having a place where you can put on your sweats on and feel safe and comfortable. The Refuge Series puts forth four books that will all explore different places.

2. Who designed this beautiful cover? Tiffany Heugal created the cover with the help of cover model Kennedy Gilbertson. Kennedy is also the model for the first book and will be on the next two as well.

3. Do you have any photos or descriptions of the characters that you can share with us?
No photos but Kennedy is very close to Aiden.

4. What are you working on now?
I'm writing an erotic story. A down and out young woman accepts an opportunity for free room and board from a group of Dominate men. The working title is Someplace Like Home, which is the name of the Mansion she consents to live in. She joins eleven other women that have similar backgrounds to hers. Writing this has been fun!

5. What motivates you to write?
For the most part it's the characters. They occupy my dreams and are very persistent that their story should be told.

6. If you were to get writers block, or have ever had it, what do you do for it?
I have experienced a lull or two. I just do something else until the characters start talking again.

7. What suggestions can you offer for the aspiring writers out there?
Write even if it's just for yourself. Not every story is a book. Some are just short tales. However, getting used to writing will help the short tales to grow into novels.

8. How long have you been writing?
I began in 2012 but my first book wasn’t published until 2014.

9. What are your hobbies?
I love to read. I love movies. I try to do both every week.

10. Do you put yourself into your characters?
A little of me is in every female character. She might look like me or have my job or my family, but I'll never tell!

11. Where is your favorite place to write?
I do the best job when I'm in front of my desk top. I feel the most regimented there. If I take a laptop and go outside, I'm distracted easily.

12. Who are your favorite authors and why?
Sylvain Reynard, is probably my biggest favorite. I enjoy AJ Storm, Al Daltry, Ethan Radcliff, and many others.

13. I noticed you write constantly. Do you ever take a break from writing?
I took most of the summer off this year. It was a very nice break. The characters have been sending smoke signals lately. So, I'm sure I'll be back to a daily routine very soon.
